Black God EP up for Order
It is great to see the Black Widows / Black Cross boys continue on in some form, because in an extremely selfish way... I love this continuum of bands and always considered them to be one of the genuine articles of punk and hardcore.
Black God is basically Black Cross minus Evan Patterson.
This is their first release and you can get it here for a measly $3.50 + Shipping (a shock at that price now a days)
If you still are not convinced, take a listen:

GHOLAS, Life In the Dark, Black Days... Splits
Dans L’isolement Solidaires, the GHOLAS split with Life In The Dark, Black Days Architecture, It Is Imperative, and Plague Sermon are now here. They are now up in the GHOLAS store, so have at it. We are the only place to get it here in the US.
We have two versions, both currently available here.
And We are running a special where if you have not purchased our EP, Here I Am, Here Is Infinity, you can add it for just a few more dollars... that deal is here
Listen to it, but that is not the whole version of the GHOLAS contribution to this split, about 3 minutes is lopped off.
Oskoreien Debut
...is coming to the CD format for the first time following the cassette version that was released last year. I have been listening to this quite a bit (I picked up the cassette version), and it's nice to see this getting out there in another format as well (a bunch of people are cassette averse). Check out the album below.

A New Swans Album?
Apparently, in the first two weeks of this July, Swans will be recording their next album. They have been playing new material on tour. The above is from their performance at Roadburn this past weekend.
Here is this interesting tidbit from the band
Meditative Sect Free Album
Two things.
1. I do not usually do these types of things
2. This might be a bit of a late pass
Meditative Sect put out Laceration Points last year in a modest edition of 150 copies on LP. Now that it is sold out, the label is offering the album for free here, which is awesome. Go check it out. I really enjoy this album a ton.

Cave In's White Silence Pre-Order
...Is live now.
Order here. At the time of writing this, there were four colors (White, Cool Grey, Clear Gold, and Black).
Here is a song off the album.
CAVE IN - Sing My Loves by H.H.R.
White Silence has an energy and a balance that feels like the work of seasoned vets, consummate professionals that have, with great heart, focus and authenticity, honed their songwriting ability in ways we feel fortunate to have witnessed first hand. If you followed the member's individual trajectories after Cave In's un- declared 2005 hiatus, you'd have been witness to a spectrum of songwriting capabilites. Brodsky's singer-songwriter eccentricies,Zozobra's 2-piece metallic power, Cloud's rock energy, and Doomrider's thunderous roll; all tastes of the potential a re-unified Cave In might present. 2009's Planets of Old was a four song return to form, a small taste of what Cave In were capable of producing with so much experience under their individual and collective belts.
White Silence brings a focused sense of dynamic and a variety that owes everything to the band's collective ability to do it all. The album's driving intro and delicate conclusion bookend a collection of tracks that have continued to fill and thrill Hydra Headquarters day after day for the last few months.
Track Listing:
White Silence (2:47)
Serpents (2:53)
Sing My Love (8:18)
Vicious Circles (3:20)
Centered (3:01)
Summit Fever (4:04)
Heartbreaks, Earthquakes (3:13)
Iron Decibels (4:33)
Reanimation (3:41)
Big China and Little Trouble LP
This (LO-PANNING)is a great little release (as in only 150 available) following up the excellent Black Blood Of The Earth LP from Big China and Little Trouble. The concept for this is pretty far out awesome, so I'll just plagiarize the Magic Bullet Blog:
The latest from Brent Eyestone (Big China) and Mike Haley (Little Trouble), Lo-Panning is another nod back to the John Carpenter movie that inspired the entire project (Big Trouble in Little China) and the David Lo Pan character in particular (played by James Hong in the film). The concept for the album was to create a comprehensive, fully-submersed analog turntable experience that is both a play on the “Pan” part of the characters name (listeners can hear and experience the drone emissions coming from both Eyestone and Haley sliding across the stereo spectrum for the duration of the program) and a fitting tribute to the mystical powers exemplified by the brilliant nemesis of the film itself.
Simply denoted “Part I” and “Part II,” both sides of the LP successfully capture the hypnotic, enveloping vortex of David Lo Pan’s ancient raw powers. A subtly constant and humming melody anchors both sides almost like a raga, as Eyestone and Haley blast and churn compositional improvisation across the sonisphere. The results are a deliberately glacial and powerful presence seeping and oozing away from the melted minds of the creators and into the listening rooms of the new hosts of these diabolical spirits.
Packaged in a hand-screened, 6-color print featuring an original Eyestone illustration of David Lo Pan, only 150 copies of the first pressing exist for consumption. Each is hand-numbered and features glow in the dark vinyl. The intention is for the entire LP to be listened to in a room with the lights off, the listener facing the turntable and equidistant from both the left and the right speaker. Enjoy.

Jesuit Discography Update

Record Store Day Highlight VI: Burn
Record Store Day Highlight V: Elliott
Though this is not my favorite Elliott record, it is third on my least of releases for the band for what to acquire (False Cathedrals and If They Do being the other two) and Revelation is finally re-issuing the LP on Gray vinyl (in an edition of 330 copies).
Here is a song off that album:
Again, this is another nice re-release that now has me crossing my fingers for a False Cathedrals re-issue. That aside, I would be looking for this in the post RSD hooplah.

Record Store Day Highlight IV : Quicksand
Ah Quicksand, this band is a gem amongst the Post Hardcore morass that continues to be a band which I go back to over and over again. Revelation has re-pressed their first EP on Blue Vinyl (in an edition of 500 copies). This record contains one of my favorite songs from them... Omission:
If you can track one of these down, I suggest you do... great little record.

Jesuit Discography
I love Jesuit and am super psyched that this is finally out...
JESUIT were an unrelenting, noisy hardcore band from Virginia Beach, VA. They existed from the mid-90′s up until the changing of the century. In their wake, they left a rather nice-sized dent in the intensely-PC witch-hunt/”safe space” era of DIY hardcore. Whereas events attributed to Charles Manson are often credited with bringing a savage and brutal end to the peace, love, and drug culture of the 60′s, events surrounding bands like JESUIT and GEHENNA not only elicited controversy at every tour stop, but pushed a movement toward hardcore finding its more violent, unpredictable, and entirely irreverent roots as the “Portlandia” cult of 90′s hardcore crashed to a halt.
Comprised of childhood friends Nate Newton (who went on to CONVERGE, OLD MAN GLOOM, and DOOMRIDERS), Brian Benoit (who went on to THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN), Brett Matthews, Kelly Posadas, and J. How, JESUIT managed to crank out twelve scathing blasts of fury and anguish in their time.
Discography features all twelve in reverse chronological order from the final 7″ on Hydra Head all the way back to the demo tape. All twelve tracks have been meticulously restored and remixed by Kurt Ballou at God City before being remastered by Bob Lipton at Peerless. The result is a behemoth of an album that sounds and feels more relevant than anything being marketed as “hardcore for the hardcore” today.
Discography also features completely revamped artwork from Florian Bertmer and Brent Eyestone. Both the LP+7″ and the CD versions are housed in lush gatefolds featuring a brand new illustration from Florian. Inside, listeners will be bombarded with inserts and extras galore. For the vinyl version, Eyestone has reworked and re-interpretated the original demo tape art into a stand-alone 7″ piece and built a massive collage comprised of hundreds of photos from the band’s archive and contributors like Dave Mandel and Jason Hellman. Both versions feature complete lyrics and a booklet containing essays and even more photos from friends and peers who experienced JESUIT first-hand. Great accounts from Brian Cook (BOTCH, RUSSIAN CIRCLES), Mike “Phyte” Mowery, Jason Hamacher (FRODUS), and more leave the reader in stitches as story after story paints a larger image of the pure chaos and absurdity that defined JESUIT to a T.
Here is the Tracklist:

Label Spotlight I: Handmade Birds
R. Loren (of Pyramids, Sailors With Wax Wings, White Moth, etc) has started up Handmade Birds, a label dealing in smaller but amazing records, and seriously, his lineup for records is already quite awesome, some of which are already sold out through the label's online store (but may be available at record stores and what not).
Currently up for pre-order is the vinyl issue of Desolate North from Atmospheric Doom greats, Celestiial. A haunting record that has been screaming for a vinyl release for sometime that now has one coming. Get it here.
While you are there, look for releases by Key, Evan Camaniti (of Barn Owl fame), His Name Is Alive, The Rita, and the upcoming pre-orders.
This sounds like the label will be extremely meticulous about their releases so try to get in on the ground floor now before the early releases are impossible to find.

Record Store Day Highlight III : Discordance Axis
I remember ordering this CD way back when from Lumberjack Online because it was coming out on Hydra Head (and I was a Hydra Head fiend back then). At the time the only Grind Record that I really liked was Napalm Death's Scum (and the Assuck catalog if you count them as Grind).
I was shocked by how non-Grind this artwork and layout was (it was the first CD that I had ever seen in a DVD case). Upon popping this in and hearing it for the first time, Discordance Axis immediately became an obsession of mine (as can happen when bands blow me away like this). Quite Simply, The Inalienable Dreamless is one of if not the best Grind records of all time. Put simply, this is a brutish conflagration of sound that will crush your ear drums.
Now that it is finally coming out on vinyl, I am beyond excited. Thanks Hydra Head. Look for it on Record Store Day.

The Last Everlovely Lightningheart Recordings...
... Are now up for pre-order (shipping in a couple of weeks) at the great Dead Accents label.

Mastered by Pete Swanson (Yellow Swans). In a one time edition of 110 copies. Handmade packaging by Faith Coloccia and includes a patch.
This was Faith from Mamiffer's outfit prior to Mamiffer and it is every bit as great as they. I have been waiting for this for a looooooong time. Do not sit on this cassette, because it will not last.

Record Store Day Highlight II : Integrity
This made My Day
To celebrate Record Store Day (April 16th 2011) Organized Crime Records have teamed up with some shitbird bands to bring you the No Peace/ War 7" compilation. No Peace/ War was conceived nearly 2 decades ago by Dwid Van Hellion of INTEGRITY. The compilation was to include some of his favorite western hardcore bands paying homage to some of his favorite Japanese hardcore bands. Originally it was scheduled to be one of the seminal Blood Book 7" singles. Unfortunately No Peace/ War was indefinitely shelved due to unforeseen forces. Now 17 years later the compilation will finally see the light of day. Included on No Peace/ War are exclusive tracks by INTEGRITY, GEHENNA, VVEGAS, CAPE OF BATS and ROT IN HELL each covering their favorite Japanese hardcore songs.
You can pick it up on 04/16/11 one of these shops.
