Final Isis releases taking shape

So, the Isis & Melvins Split is looking as though it is upon us...July 14th to be exact(ish). The short version of this release's description is one completely new song from Isis and one from the import version of Wavering Radiant and two "remixes" or alternate versions of songs from the newest Melvins album, The Bride Screamed Murder.

Hopefully Isis and the Melvins will have this on their upcoming tour.

GREYMACHINE Disconnected 2xLP

Here is some new information for the LP version of the GREYMACHINE album via the Feral Pig blog:

white and silver inks silkscreened on black uncoated heavyweight paper jackets and inserts, with the interior jacket also printed and hand stamped LP labels. some copies will also come with an 11" x 17" promotional poster and a CD version of the audio.

This looks great and I cannot wait to see it in person. Here's to hoping they still have them available on the upcoming Isis tour.

Slacking?

Not quite...

Been biking a bunch with my bicycle. Though, I did get run off the road this evening. Still, I am enjoying the biking, just not the pain and soreness in my knees.

Will be updating more this week and getting a bit caught up...

Next Week...Integrity The Blackest Curse

I am so psyched. The Blackest Curse from Integrity is finally out on Tuesday. This is another record to be excited about its release, and I surely am.

Here is the trailer for the album:

RIP Isis

Isis has announced that the band is calling it a day after this upcoming tour with the Melvins. I am still in a bit of shock even though the comments from band members following the release ofWavering Radiant hinted at this outcome.

This band has meant a great deal to me over the last 13 years; they will be missed.

In the last thirteen years, Isis has released 5 studio albums, 4 EPs, 4 remix LPs, 5 Live albums, and a split with Agoraphobic Nosebleed. Apparently, the bad has another EP and more Live material upcoming to go along with their split with the Melvins. So, on the studio and music front, we will still be hearing from the band.

Grails Black Tar Prophecies

This is great. Important Records is releasing the latest installment of The Black Tar Prophecies from Grails as well as a vinyl issue of the previous three volumes.

The Black Tar Prophesies Vol. 4 is available here for ordering.
It comes in editions of 500 picture LPs, 200 on "Coke Bottle", and (I am assuming) the rest on black.

The LP version of The Black Tar Prophesies Vol 1, 2, & 3 is available here for ordering. The pressing info for this slab is 200 copies on yellow and the rest on black.

Enjoy.

OK...I am not really a Dio fan...

...but this made me laugh. The guy really had a good sense of humor

RIP Ronnie James Dio...I forgive you for being involved in Black Sabbath.

Quicksand Slip Repress on vinyl?

It seems so, with the full remaster treatment and all. This could shape up to be a great release. As I found out more I will post it here. This is one of my favorite records... I can't wait to hear this.

Coliseum House With A Curse Pre-Order

OK, so I feel like a moron for not posting the pre-order for this sooner, but here it is...the new Coliseum available for pre-order at Temporary Residence. Again this is twelve new tracks, but with some new twists as this does not sound like your mother's Coliseum that you have grown to love. These are shipping sometime in June.

The first 300 orders receive splatter colored vinyl...but that time might already be passed.

The Gloria Record album Start Here...

...Finally is getting a vinyl release. I remember when this record came out quite a while ago. Following up the band's EPs, Start Here was their lone album (a shame really as they were quite good). The first two songs off of this album are tremendous and I never get tired of hearing them, and the whole album is solid.

Broken Circles Records is releasing this with updated artwork and the pressing breakdown is as follows:

100 on Black
200 on White
300 on Maroon Marble
400 on Yellow with Orange Marble

Pre-order this here.

Narrows / Heiress Split Is apparently Available

This split from Deathwish apparently snuck under a bunch of people's radars, but is available to order now here on two colors (Clear of 541 copies and Opaque Pink of 115). A third color exists as well.

Both bands hail from the Washington state area (well for some of the members anyway)...Heiress, though they have been around for a bit and released records prior, offer songs with new vocalist John Pettibone (ex-Undertow, ex-Himsa).

Narrows needs little introduction at this point, but the one song from this that I heard from them was one of their better songs thus far.

In either case, this shapes up to be a pretty good split to grab.

Nadja Autopergamene...(Or Another Nadja Record)

Not a vinyl preorder, but in keeping with the quality of packaging lately, this is certainly up there. This limited CD Boxset (of 149 available here) is wholly impressive in pictures and contains a bunch of music: the standard edition of Autopergamene (also available here), A CDR version that alos contains the album mixed in 5.1 Surround sound, and a live CDR.

As for the music, three new tracks from Nadja clocking in at almost an hour, and mastered by James Plotkin (the 5.1 version is Mixed and Mastered by Anders Peterson)

1. You Write Your Name In My Skin
2. You Write Your Name In My Head
3. You Write My Name In Your Blood

The artwork looks tremendous, as all involved really have outdone themselves. Artists contributing were L. Filpe dos Santos (on the standard edition), Iremir Oscar, and Uirajara Resende (both the latter on the limited box set)

An Impressive Release to say the least.

Kom Berry White Pre-Order

This release is sure to put vinyl addicts in somewhat of a quandry (just as it did me). Berry White is an impressive example of what an artistic minded label/artist release can be. Seriously, this new release from Kom and their label Denovali is so clean and sharp looking that it made me double take; it looks that good.

If you want to hear what the band sounds like, head over to Denovali and listen to the three songs from Berry White as well as check out the songs from the band's previous release Ink (which you can download from the label for free from here).

The release information for Berry White is as follows:

The extremely limited Book LP version limited to 100 on 180 Gram Clear Vinyl (order here).

The equally Limited Gatefold LP Version limited to 100 copies on 180 Gram Ice Blue Vinyl (order here).

The less limited Gatefold LP version limited to 300 copies on 180 Gram Clear Vinyl (order here).

Like I said, this is a real sharp looking release that compliments the music perfectly...

Swans Reunion

So, I am definitely seeing Swans at least once this year...at the Troc in Philly. Supposedly they are will be playing material culled from Cop, Young God, Filth, and Children of God. Dear lord, this will be amazing.

Jodis Secret House

OK, this album has been available on CD for a bit, and I really liked the record then (see my review at Scene Point Blank); and Secret House has only continued to grow on me.

Well, Hydra Head has finally released this on LP...double LP actually(including a vinyl only track although the track is also on the Japanese release as well), and I have to say that it is an impressive release. Get it here before it is gone because it does not have a high print run.

Hydra Head is saying that a second effort from Jodis is due later this year, which is excellent news.
(picture nabbed from Hydra Head blog)

Another crazy weekend in the books

It was another busy weekend for the Gholas camp. On Friday, we produced another mix of the record that all of us seem pretty happy with at this point... fingers crossed...then it will be off to mastering.

Saturday we played a fun show with Mose Giganticus, Hulk Smash, and Grass. It seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves, which is great. We are lining up a ton of great shows this summer, and all of us are starting to get excited with all the places and bands that we will hopefully get to play with then.

Floor Reunion Shows

Tickets went on sale today for the Floor reunion show at the First Unitarian Church in Philadelphia. You can order them here. I can't wait.

Here's a clip from their reunion earlier this year.

Frontier(s) The Plains Pre Order

When Elliott died, I definitely felt like I lost something because I still think their album False Cathedrals is amazing and one of my favorites all time.

Well, Chris Higdon (vocalist and guitarist of Elliot, and Falling Forward) is back with Frontier(s), which sounds more akin to US Songs era Elliott than anything else.

The Plains is the first seven inch from this band (which also has members of the Enkindels and Mouthpiece and more) and is a precursor to their upcoming LP. When you pre-order this from No Sleep here, you get the digital download immediately.

Trap Them Filth Rations

I have to admit that my interest in Trap Them has been completely cursory. They are a great band and bust out some excellent records, but I have to be in the mood to listen to them.

Well, in any case, their latest EP Filth Rations, is now up for order at Southern Lord here. The artwork (courtesy of Justin Bartlett) on this bad boy is awesome. The vinyl is also etched, which always makes for an interesting addition to a release. It is shipping now, so you shouldn't have to wait long for the record if you order it.

Starkweather This Sheltering Night

Here is another pre-order from Deathwish (yes a little late on this one as well) from a long standing and influential band. I think this might be the quickest Starkweather follow up of all time (following Croatoan that came out just a few years ago, which in turn followed Into The Wire from more than a decade ago).

This is sure to be a killer release. The song on the recent Deathwish sampler was quite good.

In any case, Preorderthe LP in any combination of the three colors from Deathwish here; the record is due to hit stores May 25th as well, so we should see this pretty soon.

Integrity The Blackest Curse Pre-orders Are Finally Up

Yes, I am a little late with this, as this monster actually went up for pre-order on LP earlier this week. Three colors available from Deathwish here. Two other colors will be available for all the vinyl nerds.

The date for this to be in stores is May 25th, so it should be shipping very soon. I can't wait to hear this.

Yes...yes...

It has been a bit; have more coming over the next few days.
