Unbroken Discography

Unbroken is one of those bands that I love, particularly the second Full length (Life.Love.Regret) and their last two singles (And / Fall, also referred to as Fall On Proverb, and Circa '77, also referred to as Crushed On You).

Well, last year Indecision records pressed a 3xLP discography that looked sharp as hell with the three different color orientations of the vinyl and the Joy Division homage that is the artwork and packaging; alas, these sold out at the first reunion show in California before anyone what but those fans and flippers that made it to that show.

Thankfully, Indecision has pressed this sucker for a second time for all of us who were not privy to that first reunion show nor the dollars required to purchase it in the aftermarket. Get it from Indecision here for just $30 plus shipping.

Here is what some of the 2nd Press packaging looks like:

Swans Tonight!

So, tonight, I finally get to see Swans. I cannot wait. Supposedly they are playing material off the first few albums and more than likely the new one, My Father Will Guide Us Up A Rope To The Sky (which is quite excellent in it of itself). It's going to be great; I can feel it

David Bowie Station To Station...

...look at that Super Deluxe limited edition version of Station To Station. LOOK AT IT!

That is a ton of stuff. Actually in the package there are 5 CDs, 1 DVD, 3 LPs, a book, and a ton of other weird / neat collectible stuff for their weirdo Bowie fan (of which I must admit that I am). It is really price (Amazon is selling it for $149.99 right now; so that price tag will probably steer a ton of people away from it.

Station to Station is a landmark Bowie album and this is almost the 35th anniversary of it's release. Really, this is a hell of a release. I only hope they do something similar for Low and "Heroes".

Nadja & Troum Collaboration Makes It to Vinyl Release

YES! So, another new Nadja record coming out this year; this time they collaborate with Troum (whom I recently discovered this year) on a full length. I really enjoy this album and was hoping that it would eventually see a release of the vinyl persuasion, and now via the great Denovali Records, this is becoming a reality.

Here we have a "dreamlike liaison". When the esteemed Canadian "avant metal / drone doom"-duo NADJA (for whom TROUM as one of their early influences) and the German post-industrial / experimental drone pioneers TROUM (years ago active as MAEROR TRI who are still being discovered by many drone-fans these days) combine their exceptional styles, they form something more vast than their parts. These three collaborative tracks are the result of aspontaneous improvisation in April 2008, "live in the studio" near the Weser-river in Bremen, Germany. The songs' powerful and emotional drone melancholy work in many micro-and-macrocosmic ways, using electric & acoustic guitars, bass, accordion, drum machine & voice. After the excellent collaboration record with PYRAMIDS another masterpiece from NADJA.

You can also download the record from Denovali here

Three versions of this are available for pre-order all 180 Gram vinyl and limited to this one time press of 500 copies:

100: on White (order here)
100: on White with Black Haze (pictured above) (order here)
300: Black (order here)

Coliseum Goddamage

No matter what anyone says, I still think that Goddamage is the high water mark for Coliseum. It effortlessly combined their d-beat infused ferocity, Motorhead-esque gallop, and subtle melodic rock 'n'roll the best of any of their other records thus far.

Well, this record is getting the re-issue treatment (yet again???!!!) from Temporary Residence.

oddamage is given the royal treatment here with the addition of TEN bonus tracks - most of which are previously unreleased - more than doubling the length of the original Goddamage release. Included are all three tracks from their 2005 split EP with Doomriders, plus seven live tracks from a Los Angeles show that same year - all remastered from the original master tapes. Packaged in a breathtaking metallic gold triple-gatefold jacket that spreads out to a whopping 3 feet in length, the original Goddamage artwork is augmented by previously unreleased images and live photos. Goddamage is the perfect display of where Coliseum came from, and a shining example of why they are one of underground rock's most inspiring bands.

Busy Busy Busy

Gholas has been playing shows out the ying yang. Besides the short tour we did in August, our schedule has continued to be full with shows for something like the next 4 or 5 weeks. The record is complete and barring some last minute revisions to the layout, it should be in our hands in roughly 3 weeks. Go Here for more info
